Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a free search and Total Care Cost?

A free search shows you the hospital's published price for a single billing code. But most procedures involve multiple charges — pre-op labs, anesthesia, surgeon fees, facility fees, post-op visits, and more. Total Care Costanalyzes all related services for your procedure and gives you a phase-by-phase cost breakdown (pre-op, procedure day, post-op, ancillary) with probability-weighted estimates so you know what you'll actually be billed.

How do Premium, Medicare, and Ultra searches work?

You buy search credits and apply them when you run a Total Care Cost analysis. Free browsing and standard comparisons stay free; credits unlock the deeper breakdown for that search. Medicare credits add CMS benchmark comparisons.

What payment methods do you accept?

Major cards are accepted through Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

Is my data private?

We do not store personal health information. Your account, searches, and purchases are protected with standard security practices.

Where does pricing data come from?

Hospital-published transparency files required under federal rules. Estimates and breakdowns are informational and not a guarantee of what you will be billed; always confirm with your facility and insurer.
