1. Why we publish this disclosure

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) require websites to clearly and conspicuously disclose any material connection between the publisher and the products or services it links to or recommends. This page explains every kind of compensated or tracked relationship MyCareCost may have, so you can make an informed decision before clicking an outbound link.

2. Hospital and provider links

When you view a hospital page on MyCareCost, we may link to that hospital’s website, scheduling page, phone number, or directions. These links are informational. MyCareCost does not receive payment from any hospital, health system, or healthcare provider in exchange for featuring them, ranking them, or linking to them. Hospital ranking and “Best Value” badges are based solely on publicly available pricing and CMS quality data.

3. Referral and affiliate links

Some outbound links on MyCareCost may be affiliate or referral links. If a link is an affiliate link, MyCareCost may earn a small commission if you sign up or make a purchase on the destination site — at no additional cost to you. We use affiliate relationships only with third parties whose services we believe are useful to people researching healthcare costs (for example, certain healthshare organizations, telehealth services, or healthcare credit/financing providers).

• Affiliate links never affect hospital rankings, price displays, or compliance scores on MyCareCost.
• We do not write editorial content in exchange for affiliate placement.
• Where required by law or platform rules, individual affiliate links are flagged with a visible label such as “Affiliate link” or “Sponsored.”

4. Click tracking

When you click an outbound link, MyCareCost may record a small set of metadata so we can measure engagement and detect abuse. This typically includes a session identifier, a hashed IP address, your user agent, the destination type (e.g., “website,” “directions,” “phone”), and a timestamp. This tracking is described in our Privacy Policy and is not shared with the destination site.

5. Sponsored content & advertising

MyCareCost does not currently run third-party advertising and does not sell ad placements. If we ever introduce sponsored content, advertorials, or paid placements, those items will be clearly and conspicuously labeled as such, and they will be visually distinct from editorial pricing data.

6. Editorial independence

Our pricing data, hospital rankings, methodology, and editorial content are produced independently of any commercial relationship. Affiliate revenue (if and when earned) does not influence which hospitals we cover, how we rank them, or what we say about them.
